Frequently asked questions about thg.dot

Can Amazon Registry reserve or block some .PAY names?

The .PAY registry may reserve, block, withhold or later release certain names under its policies. Check your exact label at domain.pay: https://domain.pay/domains. If the name is unavailable, choose an alternative from the catalog or search another label.

Should I secure thg.dot in addition to my main website domain?

Yes. Your main site protects your general brand, but thg.dot specifically protects the payment-trust layer that .PAY implies for NicNames. Holding both ensures the thg.dot name cannot be impersonated where money changes hands. https://domain.pay/register

Do I need an SMD file to register .PAY during the priority window for mobile money?

An SMD file is the TMCH-issued credential used to prove a validated mark during Sunrise. For .PAY, bring your SMD or use domain.pay’s full fast-track if you need help obtaining one: https://domain.pay/register. The SMD must match the requested label.

What is an SMD file and why does thg.dot need it for sunrise?

An SMD (Signed Mark Data) file is the cryptographic proof of a TMCH-validated trademark required to register thg.dot during sunrise. Without it, the registry rejects sunrise applications. domain.pay uses your SMD to submit thg.dot, as explained at https://domain.pay/register.

How do I know if cloud.pay is available when choosing cloud.pay?

Search the exact .PAY label at domain.pay to see current availability and premium status: https://domain.pay/domains. Availability can change quickly during launch phases, so verify before publishing names, ads or product screens.

Availability is checked live and re-verified before payment. Pre-orders are first-day registration attempts — registration is not guaranteed; 100% credit toward another domain (or 80% cash refund) if unsuccessful.
