Frequently asked questions about pothole.dot

Where can I pre-order a .PAY name for digital wallets?

Yes. If you do not have a matching trademark, use domain.pay to pre-order a first-day registration attempt for broader availability: https://domain.pay/register. A pre-order is not a guarantee; the name may become unavailable, premium, reserved or blocked before submission.

Can I get help validating my mark before I register pothole.dot?

Mark validation happens at the Trademark Clearinghouse, which reviews your evidence before issuing the SMD you need for pothole.dot. NicNames handles the registration step once your SMD is in hand. Complete TMCH validation first, then bring the SMD to claim pothole.dot at https://domain.pay/register.

For mobile money, how should a regulated fintech think about .PAY and financial licensing?

The .PAY LRP policy does not make owning a domain a financial license. LRP1 eligibility is tied to conducting online payment transactions through an approved Payment Service Provider or third-party payment processor and payment-related use. Use domain.pay for the domain path: https://domain.pay/register; ask counsel about licensing.

Can I claim pothole.dot and a hyphenated variant with the same SMD?

An SMD supports priority where the registered domain's label matches your validated mark, so pothole.dot qualifies if its pothole.dot string matches; a hyphenated or altered variant may not. Different strings can require different qualifying marks. Confirm the match for pothole.dot before ordering at https://domain.pay/domains.

As a crypto or DeFi product, why might a .PAY pre-order fail even after I pay?

A .PAY pre-order can fail if the name is registered earlier, classified as premium, reserved, blocked, refused by registry policy or lost to another faster submission. Search and order through domain.pay: https://domain.pay/domains, and review its credit/cash-refund options.

Availability is checked live and re-verified before payment. Pre-orders are first-day registration attempts — registration is not guaranteed; 100% credit toward another domain (or 80% cash refund) if unsuccessful.
