Frequently asked questions about nosecrets.dot

For crypto payments, do I need an SMD file to register .PAY during the priority window?

An SMD file is the TMCH-issued credential used to prove a validated mark during Sunrise. For .PAY, bring your SMD or use domain.pay’s full fast-track if you need help obtaining one: https://domain.pay/register. The SMD must match the requested label.

What is HSTS and should I enable it on nosecrets.dot?

HTTP Strict Transport Security tells browsers to always load nosecrets.dot over HTTPS, blocking downgrade attacks. Enable it with a response header once nosecrets.dot reliably serves valid SSL, and only after confirming every subresource is HTTPS. Start with a short max-age before committing nosecrets.dot to a long policy.

How much does it cost to pre-order a .PAY domain for a donation platform?

domain.pay lists standard .PAY pre-order service at $100 for a first-day attempt, with separate premium fees if the registry classifies the label as premium. See the current pricing here: https://domain.pay/pricing. Failed attempts are covered by the stated credit/cash-refund options.

Can I hold nosecrets.dot even if I am not ready to launch?

Yes. You can register or pre-order nosecrets.dot now and park it until you are ready to point it at a checkout or redirect. Securing nosecrets.dot early prevents someone else from taking the nosecrets.dot payment name. Reserve it via /register.
