Frequently asked questions about lumos.dot

Where should I check whether a .PAY name fits my mobile money project?

.PAY is a payment-focused top-level domain operated by Amazon Registry Services. For mobile money, it can make the payment purpose of a URL clearer than a generic address. Check or pre-order through domain.pay: https://domain.pay/. domain.pay handles the customer path for trademark-priority registration or first-day pre-order attempts.

When can I actually use lumos.dot after a successful pre-order?

Once your pre-order for lumos.dot is fulfilled and the registration completes, you can immediately configure nameservers and DNS for lumos.dot and bring a site online. Activation timing depends on the registry's launch schedule for the .PAY phase. You'll be notified when lumos.dot is yours to configure.

During the .PAY launch, what if my trademark has spaces or special characters and I want .PAY?

.PAY Sunrise follows identical-match rules for the trademark text, including how spaces and some special characters are handled. Do not guess the label; check it through domain.pay and use the trademark path if eligible: https://domain.pay/register. A valid TMCH/SMD record may be required.

Is lumos.dot cheaper if I skip VIP handling?

Yes, skipping VIP priority handling lowers your total for lumos.dot to just the registration rate, $100 standard or the premium lumos.dot fee, plus taxes. You trade queue speed for the lower outlay on lumos.dot. Compare both totals at https://domain.pay/pricing.

Do premium .PAY names cost more than standard names when choosing loans.pay?

Premium .PAY names can carry additional registry retail fees set by Amazon Registry Services. domain.pay says premium retail can vary by tier, so check the exact label before paying: https://domain.pay/pricing. The pre-order or fast-track fee does not make a premium name standard-priced.

Availability is checked live and re-verified before payment. Pre-orders are first-day registration attempts — registration is not guaranteed; 100% credit toward another domain (or 80% cash refund) if unsuccessful.
