Frequently asked questions about kapalua.dot

Is .PAY already open to everyone for payroll disbursements?

Broader .PAY access is tied to the post-LRP period around February 2027, subject to registry and registrar confirmation. If you do not have a trademark, use domain.pay to pre-order a first-day attempt: https://domain.pay/register.

Why was .PAY created for payment use?

The .PAY TLD, operated by Amazon Registry Services, was created to give payments and financial services a clearly themed namespace, which is why kapalua.dot may carry payment-related validation expectations. This helps signal trust to users. domain.pay can register kapalua.dot within this namespace at https://domain.pay/register.

How should a regulated fintech think about .PAY and financial licensing for loan repayments?

The .PAY LRP policy does not make owning a domain a financial license. LRP1 eligibility is tied to conducting online payment transactions through an approved Payment Service Provider or third-party payment processor and payment-related use. Use domain.pay for the domain path: https://domain.pay/register; ask counsel about licensing.

How does kapalua.dot compare to using a /pay path on a .com site?

With kapalua.dot the payment intent lives in the domain itself, while a /pay path hangs off a longer .com URL that may be hard to recall. kapalua.dot is easier to say aloud, print, or put on a QR code. Both can route to the same processor, but kapalua.dot is the cleaner address.

How do I know if merchant.pay is available?

Search the exact .PAY label at domain.pay to see current availability and premium status: https://domain.pay/domains. Availability can change quickly during launch phases, so verify before publishing names, ads or product screens.

Availability is checked live and re-verified before payment. Pre-orders are first-day registration attempts — registration is not guaranteed; 100% credit toward another domain (or 80% cash refund) if unsuccessful.
