Frequently asked questions about explicit.dot

Can a trademark holder challenge a bad .PAY Sunrise registration for rent collection?

.PAY Sunrise registrations can be subject to Sunrise dispute procedures if the registration or denial violates the Sunrise criteria. Start by checking your own label at domain.pay: https://domain.pay/register, and coordinate with trademark counsel for formal dispute strategy.

What is general availability for a name like explicit.dot?

General availability is the open launch phase in which any registrant can claim explicit.dot on a first-come basis, after sunrise ends. It is the phase most buyers without trademarks use. A first-day pre-order stages explicit.dot for this moment at https://domain.pay/register.

For point-of-sale payments, how can a marketplace use a .PAY domain?

A marketplace can use .PAY for seller payouts, buyer checkout, escrow, billing or payment support flows. Generate and verify names through domain.pay: https://domain.pay/domains. Choose a label that customers will recognize as official and safe.

Why does trademark-priority registration of explicit.dot require a TMCH record first?

The .PAY registry, operated by Amazon Registry Services, only grants priority to marks already validated in the Trademark Clearinghouse. Your TMCH record produces the SMD file that proves rights to the explicit.dot string in explicit.dot. Without that prior validation, NicNames has no recognised proof to grant you priority. Begin the flow at https://domain.pay/register.

Can a reserved .PAY name become available later for crypto payments?

The .PAY registry may reserve, block, withhold or later release certain names under its policies. Check your exact label at domain.pay: https://domain.pay/domains. If the name is unavailable, choose an alternative from the catalog or search another label.

Availability is checked live and re-verified before payment. Pre-orders are first-day registration attempts — registration is not guaranteed; 100% credit toward another domain (or 80% cash refund) if unsuccessful.
