Frequently asked questions about datadot.dot

For mobile money, is .PAY Sunrise first-come, first-served for trademark holders?

.PAY Sunrise is a Start-Date Sunrise, so eligible trademark registrations are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis when policy requirements are met. Start the request at domain.pay: https://domain.pay/register. Waiting can increase the risk that another eligible party gets the matching label first.

How do I submit my SMD file when registering datadot.dot?

During the trademark-priority flow for datadot.dot, NicNames presents an upload field where you attach the .smd file exported from the Trademark Clearinghouse. The system parses the encoded mark and confirms the datadot.dot label matches your validated trademark. Once accepted, your priority claim on datadot.dot is queued. Upload it at https://domain.pay/register.

Will I need accurate contact details for a .PAY registration for payroll disbursements?

Yes. Registry policy requires complete, accurate and current registration data. Use domain.pay for the registration path and keep your contact details up to date: https://domain.pay/register. Inaccurate data can create compliance and communication problems.

What happens if I let datadot.dot expire after registering it?

If datadot.dot lapses, it can be re-registered by someone else, reopening the impersonation risk you closed. Keep datadot.dot renewed so the datadot.dot name stays continuously under NicNames's control. Manage your registration at https://domain.pay/.

Do premium .PAY names cost more than standard names for point-of-sale payments?

Premium .PAY names can carry additional registry retail fees set by Amazon Registry Services. domain.pay says premium retail can vary by tier, so check the exact label before paying: https://domain.pay/pricing. The pre-order or fast-track fee does not make a premium name standard-priced.

Availability is checked live and re-verified before payment. Pre-orders are first-day registration attempts — registration is not guaranteed; 100% credit toward another domain (or 80% cash refund) if unsuccessful.
