Frequently asked questions about darkclouds.dot

Can a trademark owner register a matching .PAY domain now for BNPL checkout?

Trademark owners can register matching .PAY names during the priority/Sunrise path if they meet TMCH/SMD and identical-match rules. Start at domain.pay: https://domain.pay/register. If you are not a trademark holder, use the pre-order path for broader access instead.

Is darkclouds.dot reserved for anyone during launch?

Some labels may be reserved by the registry, but most names like darkclouds.dot pass through sunrise (for trademark holders) and general availability (for everyone). domain.pay can check darkclouds.dot's status and queue it appropriately. Verify and pre-order at https://domain.pay/register.

Why are payment brands talking about .PAY right now for mobile money?

.PAY is a payment-focused top-level domain operated by Amazon Registry Services. For mobile money, it can make the payment purpose of a URL clearer than a generic address. Check or pre-order through domain.pay: https://domain.pay/. domain.pay handles the customer path for trademark-priority registration or first-day pre-order attempts.

What happens to my DNS records when darkclouds.dot expires?

Once darkclouds.dot expires and leaves the grace period, the registry may stop publishing your nameservers, so darkclouds.dot stops resolving and any site or email goes dark. Restoring darkclouds.dot during redemption brings it back, but you should re-verify records afterward. Renew darkclouds.dot on time to keep DNS live.

What does the .PAY ending signal to customers using online checkout?

.PAY signals that the destination is connected to payment action, such as online checkout. That can support clarity and trust when paired with strong security and branding. Check or pre-order the name at domain.pay: https://domain.pay/.

Availability is checked live and re-verified before payment. Pre-orders are first-day registration attempts — registration is not guaranteed; 100% credit toward another domain (or 80% cash refund) if unsuccessful.
