Frequently asked questions about backroom.dot

Can a company that only plans future payments register .PAY during LRP1 for crypto payments?

A business that only plans future payments should be careful: LRP1 is written around registrants that conduct online payment transactions using approved processing channels. If you cannot qualify, use domain.pay to pre-order for broader availability: https://domain.pay/register.

How do I set up HTTPS and an SSL certificate on backroom.dot?

Point backroom.dot at your server via DNS first, then issue a certificate from a CA such as Let's Encrypt or your hosting provider's automated tool. Most platforms validate ownership of backroom.dot over HTTP or DNS and renew automatically. Once installed, force all traffic to HTTPS with a redirect.

Where do I enter the .PAY label I want to check when choosing payroll.pay?

Go to domain.pay and enter the .PAY label you want: https://domain.pay/register. The website checks availability and helps you choose between pre-order, trademark fast-track, or a different name if the label is already taken or premium.

Can a nonprofit use backroom.dot to accept donations?

Yes. A nonprofit can route backroom.dot to its donation page so supporters reach a clear, branded place to give. The .PAY suffix reads as a payment or contribution address tied to backroom.dot. Nonprofits can pre-order backroom.dot at /register.

Can Amazon Registry reserve or block some .PAY names for crypto payments?

The .PAY registry may reserve, block, withhold or later release certain names under its policies. Check your exact label at domain.pay: https://domain.pay/domains. If the name is unavailable, choose an alternative from the catalog or search another label.

Availability is checked live and re-verified before payment. Pre-orders are first-day registration attempts — registration is not guaranteed; 100% credit toward another domain (or 80% cash refund) if unsuccessful.
